Introduction

The following cartoon responded to the series of arrests carried out by the police during the peak of the militant campaign. Many of those arrested were middle- and upper-class women, and some were middle aged.

Questions to Consider

  • What is the point of placing an elderly woman in front of the four police officers? Is she the suspect?

  • What is the crime?
